In Norway, the Brønnøysundregistrene keep the Central Coordinating Register (Enhetsregisteret) and the Register of Business Enterprises (Foretaksregisteret). Every business has a nine-digit organisation number.

Brønnøysundregistrene and the Enhetsregisteret
The Brønnøysundregistrene are Norway's government registration authority. Among other things they keep the Enhetsregisteret, in which every unit receives a nine-digit organisation number, and the Foretaksregisteret for businesses required to register, such as limited companies (AS, ASA) and partnerships.
Inspection
The basic information of the Enhetsregisteret is public and can be viewed on the Brønnøysundregistrene website; it is also provided as open data. Official certificates from the Foretaksregisteret (firmaattest) are issued by the Brønnøysundregistrene.
