In Sweden, Bolagsverket keeps the register of companies and economic associations. Companies have a ten-digit organisation number.

Bolagsverket, the Swedish companies register

Bolagsverket is the Swedish companies registration authority. Among other things, it keeps the register of limited companies (aktiebolag), the trade register with trading and limited partnerships, and the register of economic associations (ekonomiska föreningar). Every registered entity is uniquely identified by its ten-digit organisation number.

Open data

Since 3 February 2025, Bolagsverket and the statistics office SCB have provided the basic data of registered organisations as high-value datasets under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/138, free of charge and without a contract, through an interface and as a full file. They contain, for example, name, legal form, postal address, date of registration, description of activity and ongoing liquidation or insolvency proceedings.

Basic information on businesses can be retrieved through the Bolagsverket company search. Bolagsverket issues an official certificate of registration (registreringsbevis) on order.

What is the organisation number?

The ten-digit number under which an entity is registered in Sweden, for example 556012-5790. For sole traders it corresponds to the personal identity number; CompanyDesk therefore does not include sole traders in its dataset.

Why do some Swedish profiles not appear in Google?

Trading and limited partnerships are often run by private individuals at their home address. Their profiles can be viewed on CompanyDesk but are not included in search engines for data protection reasons.

Is CompanyDesk the Swedish register?

No. CompanyDesk shows selected information from the open data of Bolagsverket with source and date. Only Bolagsverket is authoritative.
